Michael Jansen, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist and vitreoretinal surgeon. Dr. Jansen joined Retina Specialists of Colorado in 2023. After growing up in Austin, Texas, Dr. Jansen attended the University of Texas at Austin and received his medical degree from the Texas Tech School of Medicine in 2013. Dr. Jansen completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio. From there, Dr. Jansen did fellowship training in Vitreoretinal Surgery at the prestigious New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in New York City. It was there that Dr. Jansen met Dr. Chod as they were co-fellows together. Dr. Jansen and Dr. Chod always discussed practicing together one day. After fellowship, Dr. Jansen founded the retina service at New York Medical College right out of fellowship. Dr. Jansen served as Chief of Vitreoretinal Surgery for the Westchester Medical Center and New York Medical College and oversaw tremendous growth of the department during his tenure. Dr. Jansen served as an assistant professor of Ophthalmology and trained numerous residents and medical students during his time in New York. Dr. Chod recruited Dr. Jansen to join his practice and he joined in early 2023. Dr. Jansen has been published in many peer-reviewed publications and has presented papers on his work at national medical and ophthalmology meetings.

When he is out of the office, Dr. Jansen enjoys running, exercising, trying new restaurants, skiing, golfing, and spending time with friends and family.
